1978年神奈川県生まれ。東京芸術大学美術学部デザイン科卒業。同大学院修士課程修了。 動物を主なモチーフとして絵画やコラージュ、立体作品を制作し、近年は韓国や中国など国際的に発表の場を広げて注目を集めている金丸悠児。独特なマチエールが特徴の金丸の絵画は、クラックパウダーとアクリル絵の具を混ぜた独自の方法で描画し、絵の具が乾いて収縮する際にひび割れたり、意図的に表面の層を引っ掻くことで、下地の複雑な色層が現れる。《航海する街》に描かれているのは、架空の街を運ぶ巨大船。鮮やかな空と海に挟まれ白波を立てて航海する船の周囲にはカップなどの生活道具やカタツムリが漂う。まるで記憶の断片も一緒に旅をしているかのような構成から、「何が描かれているか」を単純化せず、その内面性を抽出しようとする金丸の創作態度を窺い知ることができる。なお支持体の六角形は、最小のエネルギーで最大の効果を発揮するという原理が働く、自然界の万物の調和を象徴する合理的な形とされている。 Born in Kanagawa Prefecture in 1978. Graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts, Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Design. Completed the master's course at the above graduate school. Yuji Kanamaru creates paintings, collages, and sculptures using animals as his main motif, and in recent years, he has been attracting attention by expanding his presentation to Korea, China, and other international locations. Kanamaru's paintings, characterized by their unique texture, are painted using a unique method that mixes cracking powder and acrylic paint. When the paint dries and shrinks, it cracks, and by intentionally scratching the surface layer, the complex color layers of the underlying surface appear. In "Voyage city", the artist depicts a huge ship carrying an imaginary city. The ship is situated between a bright sky and the sea, sailing on white waves, with cups and other daily utensils and snails floating in the air around it. The composition, which seems as if fragments of memories are traveling together, reveals Kanamaru's creative attitude of not simplifying "what is depicted" but extracting the inner nature of the work. The hexagonal shape of the artwork is said to be a rational shape symbolizing the harmony of all things in nature, where the principle of maximum effect with minimum energy is at work.
